Introducing IGL Ecocoat Quartz: A Reach-Compliant, Low-VOC, High-Solid Coating
So you’ve decided to make the switch to environmentally-friendly, water-based coatings. Where do you begin? When it comes to low-VOC coatings with high solid content and that are also REACH compliant, there aren’t many options on the market today—until now.
What is an Eco coat?
We’re thrilled to announce a brand new product in our range of coatings, called IGL Ecocoat Quartz. This is a revolutionary addition to our family of coatings; unlike anything we’ve produced before. The key feature of IGL Ecocoat Quartz is that it delivers high-solid performance with low VOC and better indoor air quality – something previously only available from solvent-based systems. You can learn more about what sets us apart from other suppliers here. What is REACH?: In 2007, after several years of preparation, REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) came into force across Europe.
It was designed to ensure that chemicals used in consumer products are safe for people and nature – while maintaining free trade throughout Europe. Now every company which manufactures or imports chemical substances must register them on an EU-wide database (EINECS), evaluate their safety according to strict criteria (Annex XIV), and obtain authorization for placing them on the market if they pose risks to human health or environment (Annex XVII) and restrict their use if necessary (Annex VI). Each substance has its unique identification number.
What are the Benefits of using IGL products?
To protect surfaces and bring out their best appearance, it’s important to use products that are designed to work together. As an example: If you’re applying a finish that requires a pre-coat of silicone or water repellent, your topcoat will have to be modified for compatibility with those existing treatments. That’s why we developed our newest addition to our portfolio of world-class paint coatings; meet IGL Ecocoat Quartz. Formulated with our proprietary modified active material and carrier to be free from carcinogenic chemicals like DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate), Xylene (diethyl benzene) as well as heavy metals such as lead chromium-nickel and arsenic.
One gallon covers approximately 150 square feet! We’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved with IGL Ecocoat Quartz and look forward to hearing how you enjoy using it on your next project!
Q & A: Q: How many gallons do I need?
Why Choose Us?
Several companies are claiming to have REACH compliant paint. However, they may not be informing you that these coatings may contain CMR chemicals (such as PCBs or chlorinated solvents). Choose us for your REACH compliant paint and save your family and employees from being exposed to harmful carcinogens at home or in your workplace. To learn more about how we can help you with our wide range of professional coating solutions and how we offer one of the most comprehensive warranties in our industry, contact us today.
1. No need to neutralize
The proprietary modified active material contained within IGL Eco coat Quartz eliminates the need to neutralize most substrates including concrete, brick, stone, and wood. This saves time when coating porous surfaces and reduces costs associated with waste disposal when compared to conventional paint technology. Furthermore, no-rinse is required after application due to its high solids content; leaving surfaces clean while reducing labor costs associated with rework due to overspray/overapplication.
What does it cost?
The biggest limitation of our waterborne coatings is that they are expensive to use. At some point in the future, we may be able to lower our costs by replacing certain expensive ingredients with cheaper alternatives, but as it stands now most consumers will pay more for waterborne products than they would for solvent-based counterparts. This is something you have to accept before using a waterborne coating system; it’s just one of those inherent downsides that come with making green choices in today’s market.
You might also want to investigate other ways of reducing your cost per square foot. You could try purchasing your materials from different suppliers or even mixing your batches of coatings (if you are willing to invest in proper mixing equipment). Just remember that when compared to other types of paint and coating systems—waterborne paints are truly worth every penny!
Where can I buy it?
You can buy it here. However, you will only see IGL Zero VOC Plus and IGL MinWax on our website for now. These are already available for purchase and in use by several professionals. For these professionals, we have a specific sales group that will help get them from IGL Ultra or Normal to a safer product as quickly as possible. Our goal is that soon IGL Zero VOC Plus and IGL MinWax will appear first in our pricing list while IGL Ecocoat Quartz appears last with a note informing people that it is not yet on sale but is coming soon. We’re also working hard to make sure all of our distributors know about IGL Eco coat Quartz so they can start selling it immediately when it becomes available. We expect distributors to start stocking IGL Ecocoat Quartz before July 2018.
REACH registration number for IGL Eco coat Quartz due to its low VOC
If you are an end-user looking to purchase products today, please contact your local distributor. If you don’t have one, please let us know via e-mail ([email protected]) and we will help connect you with someone who can ship your order. Note that currently there is no REACH registration number for IGL Eco coat Quartz due to its low VOC level. This means that technically speaking, IGL Eco coat Quartz cannot be sold until REACH registration has been issued.
