What is CTET?
CTET is an offline eligibility entrance test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) twice a year. Aspirants dreaming to have a successful career as a teacher in the government schools of the country have to appear as well as crack the CTET exam. TET Exam 2022 Details
CTET is the national-level exam accepted all over the country. However, there are several other state TET exams conducted by the government of India on a yearly basis to help you secure your career as a teaching job in government schools.
Every TET exam is conducted almost similar to that of the CTET exam. Thus, for a better understanding, let’s differentiate CTET and other state TET exams with the help of similarities and differences between them:

TET and CTET Eligibility Criteria
The TET and CTET exams are conducted for Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for teaching classes 1 to 5 while Paper II is for teaching classes 6 to 12. To be eligible to appear for the TET/CTET exam, make sure you have the following eligibility criteria as required by the exam conducting authority for Paper I and Paper II.
Paper 1 Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam
- Must have passed Senior Secondary or any equivalent exam with 50% of marks, also passed or final year appearing students in 2 years diploma in elementary education are eligible to apply. OR
- Must have cleared Senior Secondary or equivalent exam with 50% marks along with a 4 years bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Also, final-year students are eligible to apply. OR
- Must have passed graduation and passed or appeared for the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education.
Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam 2022
To be eligible to appear for Paper-II, candidates
- Must have passed graduation and passed or appeared in the final year of a 2-year diploma in elementary education. OR
- Must pass graduation with at least 50% of marks and are appearing or have passed the 1st year of B.Ed. OR
- Must have cleared the senior secondary exam with 50% marks and those who have passed or appeared for the final year of B.EI.Ed is eligible.
- Candidates who have passed or appearing for the final year of 4 years integrated course BA, B.ED, B.Sc, B.Ed, or any other equivalent course are also eligible to apply.
TET and CTET Exam Pattern
The exam pattern for both TET as well as CTET is similar which is as follows:
- The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English language.
- Paper I is conducted for primary teachers to take up class from I-V
- Paper-II is conducted for secondary teachers to take up class from VI-VIII
- Whereas the teachers who want to teach upto class I-VIII have to appear for both the papers.
- There is no negative marking in the TET examination.

Qualifying Marks for TET or CTET Exam

TET and CTET Score Validity
One of the important points to be known is that the validity of the CTET certificate has now become lifetime. Whereas on the other hand, the validity of the TET certificate is 5 years. After getting the CTET certificate, candidates can apply to all state government teaching jobs but with the TET certificate, you are only eligible to apply within the state.
