How to draw a spaceship
Step 1:
To kick off this guide on how to draw a spaceship, we’ll start with the glass cladding of the spaceship cabin. As you can see in the reference image, it will be a rounded shape with a sharp point on the right side. The shape should look a bit like a side teardrop shape which you will add in the following steps.
Step 2:
You will add to the spaceship cockpit for this next step of drawing your spaceship. The next step may seem complicated, so looking closely at the reference image will help you as you draw. The front part of the cabin will be more pointed, curved downwards, and have a more rectangular back. You will want to take this step slowly as you draw, and be sure to refer closely to the reference image. Once you’re happy with how it looks, move on to step 3!
Step 3:
The section we’ll add behind the cockpit you’ve drawn will include your spaceship’s thrusters. It will have a relatively sizeable rounded section connected to the cockpit, and this rounded section will have a thin extending section. Finally, you can draw a rounded helix at the end of this thin section. It doesn’t sound straightforward, but it becomes much easier when you follow the picture!
Step 4:
In this part of your spaceship drawing, you can add another booster on the right side of the spaceship. This will be smaller than the first to show perspective. Finally, you can add a sizeable rounded booster to the back of the spaceship. That’s all there is to this step, so now you’re good to go!
Step 5:
You’ll add some detail to the ship’s body in this fifth step of our guide on how to draw a spaceship. Using curved lines, these details will go over the body and thrusters of the spaceship, as shown in the reference image. There is also another shape you can add under the spaceship body with some small circles inside.
Step 6:
The main thruster at the back of your spaceship isn’t finished yet, so we’ll add another section to it at this stage of drawing your spaceship. This section will be rounded like the rest of the propeller, with three angled sections.
Step 7:
You will be able to add color to your picture very soon, but first, you have some final details to draw in this step of our guide on how to draw a spaceship. The central part is an extreme love from each of the three thrusters. You can also add minor details to the cockpit and throughout the spaceship to complete it.Before moving on to the final step, add any final details you want for your image! One view you could use would be to remove a location for your spaceship. This picture would end well if the spaceship were flying through space!
Step 8:
Your spaceship drawing is almost done at this point, but there’s still one more fun step to do! Before this image is finished, you can finish it with bright colors. This spaceship has a futuristic and creative design, so although we show a way to color it, you must use the colors you like! This spaceship would look great if you used brighter, bolder colors or kept it more understated. For more vibrant colors, you can use mediums like acrylic paints or colored pens to achieve vibrant colors. You can play around with certain mediums, like watercolors and colored pencils, for a more subdued look. It’s up to you, and we can’t wait to see how you finish this awesome spaceship drawing!
This is how you can make your spaceship drawing even better…
Create a spaceship ready for the stars with tips for your spaceship sketch. The design of this spaceship drawing is excellent, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be edited. You can add all the personal touches to make it even more fantastic! These keys can include anything from additional weapons to text or logos on the sides.
We’ve only given a few customization ideas, but how else could you modify this amazing spaceship? In our example, the cockpit of a spaceship in this drawing was colored a solid light blue. Another way to make the drawing even better would be to draw someone sitting in the cockpit. To do this, you will want to avoid staining the glass. Then you could draw a pilot driving this fantastic vehicle.
The head could be mortal or could be a fun, exotic design! You could even show yourself behind the wheel of this spaceship for a funnier touch. Who do you think is piloting this spaceship? Once you master this design, you can add more spaceships to the image. These might fly close to him, or they might even fight. You can make these additional ships look like this, or they can be completely different.
Again, they might even look like alien spaceships! Here is a trick where you can use your imagination to make this spaceship sketch even more interesting to see.
